WSIA Releases Expanded 2025 Annual Market Report With New Consumer and Industry Insights
Report draws on confidential surveys, interviews, and supplemental industry data to provide extensive industry insights
The Water Sports Industry Association (WSIA) announced today the release of its 2025 Annual Market Report, an expanded resource offering a comprehensive look at the trends, pressures and opportunities shaping the towed water sports industry.
Drawing on confidential surveys, follow-up interviews and supplemental industry data, the report brings together perspectives from towboat and component manufacturers, water sports equipment manufacturers, wake park operators, and camps and schools. It examines both near-term market conditions and the factors expected to influence the industry over the next five to 10 years.
New and expanded content includes:
- A cross-segment analysis of artificial intelligence, including how manufacturers are using or evaluating AI in market monitoring, customer analysis, design, engineering, operations and technical support.
- Expanded analysis of emerging business pressures, including tariffs, affordability, regulation, interest rates and changing consumer behavior.
- A new Camps and Schools section, examining instruction, youth engagement, skill development and the pathways that introduce new participants to towed water sports.
- The first WSIA Water Sports Consumer Survey, featuring responses from highly engaged water sports enthusiasts and insights into participation, purchasing behavior, boating habits, brand considerations and media use.
Across industry segments, the report identifies several consistent themes, including continued affordability pressures, cautious near-term sentiment, the importance of attracting younger and first-time participants, and confidence in the industry’s long-term potential. It also explores the continued influence of wakesurfing and foil boarding, as well as opportunities created by technology, education, community-building and more accessible entry points into the sport.
“The Annual Market Report is designed to give WSIA members more than a snapshot of the industry. It provides the information and perspective they need to make informed decisions, recognize emerging opportunities and prepare for the challenges ahead,” said James Krawczyk, WSIA Director of Operations. “This year’s expanded research gives members our most complete picture yet of the businesses and consumers driving towed water sports.”
The 2025 Annual Market Report is intended to help WSIA members inform product and business planning, better understand customer priorities, evaluate emerging opportunities, and support internal strategic discussions.
